The traditional competition of studio projects by students of the Faculty of Architecture took place on Thursday, May 23, 2013. The exhibition of works opened for the jury's evaluation and offered an interesting range of addressed topics. Both students and teachers had the opportunity to showcase the best of what they created during the semester. From the day-long marathon of the jury through the individual studio rooms of the faculty emerged three winning and six awarded projects, which were announced the same day during the Festive Evening. The competition of semester student projects brought an extraordinary atmosphere to the Faculty of Architecture in Brno. A six-member jury filled with personalities met in the morning at the Faculty of Architecture and began the marathon through the studio rooms. The laureates of the previous round of the competition, students Bc. Darina Bartková, Bc. Zdeněk Chmel, and Bc. Pavel Kolář, along with practicing architects Ing.arch. Roman Čerbák, Ing.arch. Yvette Vašourková, under the leadership of the commission chairman Ing.arch. Vlado Milunić, initiated a several-hour odyssey through the studios. From the whole range of projects, they managed to select several finalists for advancement to the next round. The very resolute, experienced jury slowed down its unattainable pace only in the afternoon when selecting three winning projects. After a demanding discussion, the results were known, and the Festive Evening in the Faculty's art workshop could begin. This social gathering of students and professors was introduced by the moderator and opened with a speech by the dean of the Faculty of Architecture, doc. Ing. Josef Chybík, CSc. With words from the jury chairman Ing.arch. Vlado Milunić and the critical Yvette Vašourková, the announcement of the awarded and winning projects began. The V. Bohuslav Fuchs Prize for the summer semester of the academic year 2012/2013 was awarded to the duo of students Kryštof Foltýn and Daniel Struhařík for their project titled "5+5 Revitalization of Cities." The studio was led by doc. Ing.arch. Karel Havliš, Ing.arch. Ondřej Chybík, and Ing.arch. Michal Krištof. Another winning project, titled "House over the Lake under Petrov," captured the jury's attention from Veronika Tvrdá. Her project supervisor was doc. Ing.arch. Gabriel Kopáčik, Dr., alongside Ing.arch. Milan Šuška and Ing.arch. Jan Šárka. The third winner of the original statuette was Bc. Veronika Ehlová from the studio of prof. Ing.arch. Petr Pelčák, Ing.arch. Nicol Gale, and Ing.arch. Bohumila Hybská. Her winning work was titled "Inventory of Building in MPR Brno – A Place in the City Center?" The remaining six announced works received the title "Awarded Project" and also a material reward. The awards were presented, and the moderator opened the second part of the evening – a buffet and discussion about the projects. Musical tones accompanied the informal entertainment connected with dancing. An extraordinary friendly atmosphere developed in the space of the art workshop. We hope that this mood will return to the faculty with the next awarding of the Bohuslav Fuchs Prizes.
