Four candidates applied for the competition to restore the Repre in Most

Most - Four applicants entered the public competition for the reconstruction of the Repre cultural house. The costs were estimated at one billion crowns, but the offered prices are lower. It is not possible to stop the preparations, as some citizens demanded in an open letter. This was stated by Mayor Marek Hrvol (ProMOST).

The city has been preparing the repair of the building in the city center for several years. In the fall, it announced the public competition for the third time. "It looks good, there are interested parties. We set the conditions leniently to prevent potential challenges to the competition from the participants," Hrvol stated. The committee will now evaluate the offers, and the councilors might select the contractor at the February meeting. "If all goes well, the contract could be concluded in March, and the work could start in April," the mayor said.

According to the schedule, the reconstruction will take two and a half years, and there will be an additional half year for the handover of the building and final touches. Therefore, high school graduates will need to secure a venue for their proms elsewhere this year and in the following years. The building is currently sealed. The last municipal ball was held there in 2019.

A group of citizens delivered an open letter with nearly 900 signatures and a professional analysis of the reconstruction project to the mayor and the city council just before the Christmas holidays last year. In the letter, they request a redesign of the reconstruction project. According to the authors of the letter, Repre deserves an architectural competition. "We are addressing the letter, and we will respond to it, but the train has left the station, and it cannot be stopped," the mayor stated.

The city sold the building in 2010 for 28 million crowns. An arbitration court declared the purchase contract invalid in 2015 and identified Most as the owner. A demolition order had been issued for the building in the past. The city library will move to Repre.
