The Ytong building component system is already an established solution in the market and currently the most comprehensive one – it includes all components for rough construction as well as options for external and internal surface finishes. Where the project requires reducing energy consumption or meeting high demands for acoustics or load-bearing capacity, two additional brands from the same manufacturer can be considered, the acoustic range Silka and the mineral insulation Multipor. The latest innovation is elements for large-format masonry.

The manufacturer of Ytong, after innovating the thermal insulation range, has completed Lambda YQ, designed for single-layer masonry without insulation, has focused primarily on developing accessories that minimize thermal bridges, accelerate construction, and eliminate potentially critical points. Their cohesive solution now begins with the first series of blocks – for laying the foundation, they have created Ytong Start, a block designed not only for structures made of autoclaved aerated concrete but also for walls made of ordinary brick masonry or lightweight concrete. The use of this foundation block reduces the risk of mold formation in critical details and improves the insulation properties at the base of the walls. It also complements the wall height module, for example.

Wall including surface finishes and easily implementable details

The system also includes optimal products for surface finishes on Ytong structures – external and internal thermal insulation plaster. Both improve the final properties of the wall and contribute to the overall quality of construction execution. It is complemented by an internal plaster reinforced with fibers, which allows for the creation of exceptionally smooth surfaces, and to achieve an extra smooth effect, final finishing through grinding is possible. It is also highly breathable, with hydrophilic properties – it absorbs water vapor, thereby regulating indoor humidity. Due to its alkaline composition, it prevents the development of mold and algae. Another advantage is its easy repairability after damage or modifications to the interior. Since a common requirement among builders is preparing the house for easy installation of blinds, Ytong has developed a box that is fully compatible with the entire system and suitable for most outdoor blinds available on the market. Its use also contributes to the easy and precise execution of details in construction.

Silka – unbeatable acoustics, statics, and load-bearing capacity

Lime-sand blocks Silka complete the overall portfolio of building components with parts that excel in excellent acoustic properties, load-bearing capacity, and allow for the construction of very slim structures. They have the same composition as Ytong; however, with a load-bearing capacity of up to 20 MPa, they are more similar to concrete, thus much stronger. Silka is often used in constructions with increased demands for soundproofing – blocks with a thickness of 240 mm already meet the standard for 55 dB, while a 100 mm thick partition corresponds to the attenuation for acoustically protected rooms. Another practical advantage is Silka's fire resistance, classifying it, like Ytong, among A1 materials, which are non-combustible. It also has excellent thermal storage properties. Processing is somewhat more challenging than with Ytong, which the manufacturer addresses with pre-prepared channels for easy routing of electrical installations and other cables. Installations can also be routed in stud walls. Despite the significant weight of the blocks (2000 kg/m³), construction with them is easy and practical, as their size is adapted for easy handling. Absolute precision, systematization, and the possibility of integration with the Ytong system help meet high criteria for construction speed. Silka finds successful applications in apartment buildings where high load-bearing capacity of the masonry combined with a slim structure is required.

Multipor – internal and external insulation with mineral boards

Mineral boards Multipor are also made from purely natural raw materials, and their composition is similar to that of autoclaved aerated concrete. A significant advantage of this insulation material is its non-combustibility (it belongs to class A1), and its use increases the fire resistance of structures. The boards do not contain fibers, thus they do not irritate during processing and are health-safe. In external insulation, you will appreciate its shape stability and resistance to all biological pests and molds. Its use in internal insulation is unparalleled. The main reason is its excellent sorption capacity. Internal insulation with these boards does not require supplementary vapor barriers, as the structure can manage humidity.

The system thus addresses the main requirements of current construction practice and exceeds all legal standards with a large margin. However, innovations are driven by the idea of sustainable construction – in terms of energy efficiency, health, quality of execution, and overall lasting value of the building.

The latest trend in accelerating construction – large-format innovations

The Ytong construction system is now introducing a significant innovation that will be particularly appreciated by construction companies, developers, and designers. They have launched large formats, which have the same quality of this premium brand, but also save time and costs on construction and labor. This provides builders with a valuable tool to gain a competitive advantage – they can build with the same quality, but in a shorter time and with lesser demands for increasingly scarce labor. With the use of Ytong Jumbo elements, suitable for machine masonry, the built area is eight times larger in one step. Large-format Silka Tempo blocks can be used for load-bearing and non-load-bearing interior walls and acoustic partition walls. Ytong partition panels are made to measure according to the height of the floor. The use of this innovation can save up to half of the labor force and increase usable space.
