The new décors of the Spirit series with a low construction height of just <nobr>10.2 mm</nobr> will delight fans of rustic atmosphere

The Swedish manufacturer of wooden multi-layer floors, Kährs, has prepared a total of 52 new product innovations for this year. This includes the introduction of completely new collections as well as the addition or modification of existing ones. This also applies to the popular Spirit collection, which features a low construction height of just 10.2 mm, allowing installation in places where traditional 15 mm planks would not fit. Another benefit is the consistently emphasized environmental protection, which Kährs has adhered to since the very beginning of production in 1935. The original decors of the Spirit series have been retained in the Unity sub-collection, and five new rustic decors have been added to the Rugged sub-collection. The new products with a hand-finished surface protected by natural oil will delight with their rustic atmosphere.


The popularity of rustic decors for interior design in a country style or for blending the old with the modern continues to grow. Therefore, Swedish Kährs has introduced a selection of decors with the natural beauty of raw wood, where knots, growth rings, and scratches on the surface are an advantage, even in the Spirit product line with a low 10 mm construction height. Handcrafted production, a rustic to robust appearance, scratched and cut surfaces, smoking techniques, natural oil, and oak wood are the main features of the new decors included in the Rugged sub-collection.

All five new oak decors Husk, Safari, Fossil, Crater , and Trench are single-plank with dimensions of 1200 x 125 x 10.2 mm. The core of each plank consists of a layer made from industrially recyclable ECO Core material. The ECO Core has the same characteristics as the base material of other Kährs products. It provides a very stable and reliable structure that keeps the floor flat and smooth despite significant fluctuations in air humidity. Due to the high stability and low height, the Spirit Rugged wooden floors can also be installed over underfloor heating; the flooring offers better thermal conductivity and eliminates the possibility of any deformation. The top wear layer made of oak has a thickness of 1.9 mm. The top wood is finished with hand scratching or brushing; in addition to the Husk decor, smoking and staining techniques have also been used. You can choose from lightly bleached oak or interestingly highlighted with a pleasant gray.


Due to its thin top wear layer from oak, the flooring allows for "only" one sanding. However, this need not be a disadvantage; after all, how many times in a lifetime would we sand the flooring? Moreover, it should be taken into account that any sanding would remove the special surface treatments, which are impressive not only visually. The low construction height of the flooring, on the other hand, brings a number of benefits: the possibility of installing planks in renovated rooms, which are often limited by construction height, better thermal conductivity from underfloor heating, and lower wood consumption during production. The flooring is factory-equipped with the Woodloc® locking joint, allowing for floating installation. The advantage of the locking joint is the possibility of subsequent disassembly of the flooring and replacement of damaged planks or reusing it in another location. The flooring can also be glued permanently to the substrate.

For those who prefer calmer motifs, the original eight decors of Spirit remain in the Unity sub-collection. The decors are available in a wide range of colors, from darker to lighter. The surfaces of selected decors are brushed but in a calm style, with only wood selected that shows little occurrence of wrinkling and knots. In addition to oak decors, you can choose between exotic wood in warm brown to golden tones of hickory or darker walnut.
