M&T magnetic has won the RED DOT award!

Magnetic – a revolutionary system for perfect doors. Its innovative solution earned the Czech door hardware manufacturer M&T, from whose authorial workshop this novelty originates, the internationally recognized prestigious RED DOT Design Award for the year 2020.

The Magnetic system impressed the expert jury mainly with its completely innovative solution, which was confirmed by the granting of a national patent, as well as its timeless design, and last but not least, the quality of its workmanship. "The RED DOT award is a great honor for us, and we are incredibly pleased that we have received this honor again. We have been informed that the jury was thrilled not only by the original Magnetic opening system itself, but also by the handles YES! and KONZERVA, which were specially designed for it. Now we are eagerly awaiting the detailed justification of our award, which will be published in the RED DOT yearbook,” says Ivo Ulich, the owner of M&T, a Czech manufacturer of designer door and window hardware.

The innovative solution of Magnetic lies in the fact that the entire system operates purely on the principle of very strong magnets placed in the door frame and their counterpart made of magnetic stainless steel built into the door leaf. When both parts come close together, the magnetic force allows the door to close smoothly and almost silently, without extending any bolt element. "The magnets do not touch each other, so when closing, only a gentle touch of the door against the seal is heard. Opening the door leaf is then completely silent,” says Roman Ulich, the designer of the Magnetic system and M&T, and adds: “The strength of the magnets can also be easily adjusted using an Allen key, which when rotated brings the magnets closer together, or conversely, pushes them apart, thereby increasing or decreasing the strength of their mutual interaction.”

The awarded KONZERVA handle features a slight rounding of the gripping part and, due to its specific construction, allows its inner control space to be filled with a visible magnetic plate, enabling perfect harmony or, conversely, an impressive contrast with the surface of the door. The YES! handle also brings a previously unknown impression to the doors, as its ingenious construction conceals the control segment of the WC/bathroom lock, which is not visible at first glance.

The RED DOT award goes to the Czech designer door hardware manufacturer M&T for the second time. It first received it for the MINIMAL and MAXIMAL hardware collections in 2013.
