With the innovative M&T magnetic system, rotating doors do not require handles – minimalist grip handles are enough for their operation. But how to secure the door leaf against unintentional opening while maintaining the design purity of the door hardware?
In the Magnetic system, there is no mechanical contact; the door leaf closes and holds firmly in the frame solely due to magnetic force. However, there are situations where the door needs to be securely locked or secured against unintentional opening. But M&T has thought of everything! “All models of ergonomic grip handles designed for Magnetic are available with a cylinder locking option or a WC/bathroom securing mechanism,” states Roman Ulich, the designer of the Magnetic system and designer at M&T, the only Czech manufacturer of design door and window hardware, who adds: “And we have integrated the WC/bathroom lock directly into the design of two of the nine handle models – YES! and OKO. This integrated, hidden control segment provides a previously unseen impression, as the lock does not disrupt the design purity of the door leaf.”
YES!
The YES! handle offers a variant with a hidden integrated WC/bathroom lock. It is manufactured in five lengths from 110 to 910 mm, either in a full variant or with a grip hole for two fingers. The handle protrudes 35 mm above the surface of the door leaf, and its width is 15 mm. Finishes: shiny chrome, matte nickel, brushed nickel, titanium chrome matte, titanium brass matte, titanium brown matte, antique brass, natural brass, titanium black matte, brushed black chrome Design: Roman Ulich
OKO
The round OKO handle offers a variant with a hidden integrated WC/bathroom lock. Its design allows for the replacement of the internal visible magnetic plate. The handle protrudes 33 mm above the surface of the door leaf, and its diameter is 63 mm. Finishes: shiny chrome, matte nickel, brushed nickel, titanium chrome matte, titanium brass matte, titanium brown matte, antique brass, natural brass, titanium black matte, brushed black chrome Design: Roman Ulich
What is Magnetic?
The innovative M&T magnetic system operates on the principle of very strong magnets placed in the door frame and their counterpart made of magnetic stainless steel embedded in the door leaf. When both parts are brought close together, the magnetic force smoothly and almost silently closes the door without extending any latch component. The closed door leaf is held firmly in the frame solely by magnetic force. The strength of the magnets can be easily and intuitively regulated using a small hex key.
