The Schüco company has won two prestigious Gold iF Design Awards. The awarded products were the Schüco Parametric System and the Schüco FWS 60 CV façade systems. The international jury of this prestigious competition selected from nearly 5,300 submitted entries from more than 50 countries, divided into seven categories, and awarded the highest honor to 75 of them. For decades, the quality design in Germany has been supported by the organization iF International Forum Design GmbH.
Three-dimensional cladding of any shape
3D façade Schüco, based on parametric design, impressed the jury especially with its execution and practical application. "The system provides maximum flexibility in designing glazed façades and supports innovative ideas. Technically, this state-of-the-art façade system convinces with excellent material quality, high precision, and careful processing in every detail," explained the jury's reasoning for the award.
Schüco Parametric System, developed in collaboration with the FAT LAB research program in Stuttgart founded by Prof. Andreas Fuchs, allows for individualized three-dimensional design of façade structures. All processes and progressively building activities are digitized, from initial design and detailed planning to production implementation and realization on site. Parametric design takes place in a library of "intelligent" façade modules. This is a special supplementary software for CAD programs that is constantly evolving. The individual elements of the parametric façade can be assembled according to personal preferences, while the technical feasibility of each step and the emerging design is simultaneously checked right from the initial phase, significantly facilitating the architect's work and supporting their creativity.
"Hidden" windows in the façade from the Schüco FWS 60 CV system
The jury also unanimously agreed on the second gold award for Schüco. "The technical and aesthetic requirements for the façade are in perfect symbiosis in this system solution. The high transparency of the full-surface intermediate floor glazing is impressive. Thanks to the reduction of frame profiles, the solid glazing and opening window sash create a unified appearance, enriching every architectural project. This is a comprehensive and very successful contribution that convinced the jury," they stated.
The Schüco FWS 60 CV façade system is a new filigree generation of strip windows with optimal acoustic and thermal insulation. The visual merging of the opening window sash and supporting structure creates excellent possibilities for strip windows in intermediate floors as well as regular window openings. Solid glazing and opening elements, constructed from profiles with a minimal visible width of only 60 mm, are indistinguishable from one another when viewed from the outside. Many improvements also benefit fabricators, especially in terms of comfort during processing and installation, as well as fittings based on the modular Simply Smart principle with a high share of identical parts. In addition, a complete system for connecting to the building structure is available, optimizing thermal insulation and drainage.
