Dan Merta is an art historian, gallery owner, and exhibition curator, focusing on architecture. He studied art history and aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University in Bratislava. As a curator, he has organized exhibitions at Prague Castle since 1993. From 1999 to 2008, he served as the secretary of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society. Between 1996 and 2000, he also worked as the head of the Culture Department of the Prague 3 - Žižkov municipal district, where he co-founded the modern tradition of cultural and social bacchanalias, such as the Žižkov carnival and Vinohrady grape harvest festival. He was one of the initiators and founders of the Initiative for a New Prague and "This is Not the Developer's" (2011). From 2001 to 2022, he led the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery.
