OFFCITY ARCHITECTS

EVA BRANDOVÁ / PETR JANOŠ

Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from 19:00 in Theatre 29
Sv. Anežky České 29, Pardubice

This year's lecture series Offcity architects is centered around the theme of city development and planning and the role of the city architect. Similar to the previous lecture, this time it will not be just about the self-presentation of the speakers; the aim of the meeting will instead be to open a broader discussion on the function of the city architect and how to develop and build the city's image.

During the evening, we will try to take a glimpse into the functioning of two smaller towns – Klatovy and Roudnice nad Labem. Both of today's guests, Eva Brandová from Klatovy and Petr Janoš from Roudnice nad Labem, are younger generation architects who perform the role of "city architect" in their town more or less externally; besides this position, they run their own practice.

What is the role of an architect in a smaller town? Does the family environment help to promote quality concepts, or is it purely a formal function? Can a city architect assist in finding the face of the city? Are architectural competitions held in smaller towns as well? With what results? Come join the discussion.

Admission: 50 CZK

Organized by the Offcity Association in cooperation with Theatre 29 as part of the OFFCITY 2014 project. This project is realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the statutory city of Pardubice, and the Czech Architecture Foundation.
