The vice and realization of the successful Slovenian office Bevk Perovic Arhitekti will be presented on Monday, November 12, at 18:30 by one of its founders, Vasa J. Perović. His presentation will take place as part of the November Talks 2018 – Visions cycle, subtitled the importance of visions in architecture and urbanism. The lecture for students and the public will be in English, and admission is free.
Projects by Vasa Perović and his partner Matija Bevk have won many international competitions, and their realizations are known for their craftsmanship and social responsibility. The motto of the office “everything depends on the circumstances” highlights the importance that architects give to context, which in the form of physical, social, or even psychological aspects always determines the final shape and meaning of their buildings.
“We always think that our work ends with a building/container, which can later become a framework for the personal expression of the user. Our houses are like platforms on which life gradually unfolds. Our architecture only provides possibilities; it does not bring fixed solutions,” explains Perović.
The architects are laureates of the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture for emerging architects (2009), Kunstpreis Berlin (2006), and multiple holders of the Slovenian Plečnik Award for Architecture. In 2012, a monographic issue of the magazine El Croquis 160: Bevk Perović 2004–2012 Condicionalismo was dedicated to the work of the studio.
In Prague, the office already presented itself in 2012 with the exhibition Blow up at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery. Currently, it is collaborating with Karlín Group on 3 projects in Prague. Vasa J. Perović is also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture of CTU in Prague this academic year; his partner Matija Bevk was a member of the international expert jury of the Czech Architecture Award 2017.
