The same title as the lecture also applies to the monograph by architect Jan Sapák dedicated to this building. The Brno Tugendhat Villa is his lifelong theme; the history and fate of this house have been a focus for Jan Sapák since his studies. He considers the Tugendhat Villa to be one of the groundbreaking works in cultural history, which he believes has influenced and continues to influence architecture and its creators worldwide. For many years, he has been publishing and lecturing on the topic of the Tugendhat Villa both locally and abroad. Jan Sapák is an architect, architectural theorist, and publicist. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In 1984, he began practicing at the SIAL studio in Liberec with Miroslav Masák and Karel Hubáček. Later in Brno, he collaborated with architects Jindřich Škrabal and Ludvík Grym. He also trained as a stonemason and owned a stonemasonry company.
