In the winter semester of 2016, a lecture series featuring Czech and Slovak as well as foreign architects will take place at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno as part of the course 'Architect in Practice' intended for 2nd-year MSP students. On Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 5:00 PM, founding members of the Olomouc studio Ječmen Lukáš Blažek and Eva Casková/Blažková will give a talk in room A118. The course is open to all interested parties at the faculty and the general public.
Lukáš Blažek (* 1980 Olomouc) studied architecture with Prof. Ivan Kroupa at ČVUT in Prague and later graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In 2010, he co-founded the studio Ječmen in Olomouc with Eva Casková. He is a co-holder of the Building Forum Award "Pilot in Architecture" from 2010 for a design showcasing the development of human settlements (in the study category): Development of the area of Hynčice under Sušinou.
The work of the studio Ječmen includes a wide range of projects: a playground and the transformation of a boiler room into changing rooms and a gym in Tršice, Regional Education Center of Zábřežsko, and the conversion of the Pivoňka premises into the Ecological Center Pivoňka in Pivonín, in the Šumperk region. For the Kraličák guesthouse at the foothills of the famous massif Kralický Sněžník, they received the Grand Prix of Architects in 2014 in the New Building category. More information >
