Žatec - The city of Žatec succeeded with the management of the Regional Operational Program (ROP) Northwest in obtaining a grant for the reconstruction of the transportation terminal. The project, which costs a total of 48.9 million crowns and will be implemented this year, has received a contribution of 41.6 million crowns, while the remaining 7.3 million crowns will be covered by the city from its own resources. This was stated by the mayor, Zdeňka Hamousová (Choice for the City).
"We are pleased that ROP Northwest granted us the subsidy. We have approved project documentation and a contractor has been selected," the mayor said. She does not want to disclose the name until it is approved by the city council, but according to her, it is a serious partner with whom Žatec has good experiences. "They have already participated in several city contracts," Hamousová said.
In the case of the bus terminal reconstruction, time is the main concern, as the work must be completed by September at the latest, so that the entire project can be finished from an administrative perspective by the end of the year and ROP Northwest can reimburse Žatec for the grant. "I am convinced that everything will be completed on time," the mayor stated.
Senator Hamousová returned to her position as the mayor of Žatec just last week, when the city council dismissed the entire city council led by Mayor Aleš Jelínek (Party of Free Citizens). "I was out of the city management for only about two months, so the return is not complicated," Hamousová said, who was also involved when the assignment for the reconstruction of the transportation terminal was created.
The Žatec city council approved a balanced budget of 346.6 million crowns in December. For investments, the city plans to allocate at least 75 million crowns, with the amount potentially increasing if a grant is obtained. This is precisely the case for co-financing the renovation of the bus station.
Žatec must pay the Ministry of Finance approximately 1.7 million crowns for errors in the project of the Beer and Hops Temple, which opened in 2010. The city intends to defend itself against the penalty through legal means. "We will contest it in court because the amount is worth it for the city, and according to lawyers, we have a good chance of success," Hamousová previously told ČTK. According to her, however, the city must pay, which was also approved by the council, in order to release approximately 11 million crowns from ROP Northwest that has been blocked since 2012.
