Zatec - A large reconstruction of the bus station has begun in Zatec. After its completion, passengers will have access to new stops, an unattended facility with refreshments, toilets, and the option to purchase tickets online. The completion date is set for the end of September. Mayor Zdenka Hamousova (Choice for the City) informed journalists of this today.
    The city handed over the construction site to the contractor at the beginning of February. During the reconstruction, people traveling to surrounding towns and villages will have to use temporary stops. According to the mayor, the city informed all affected municipalities, schools, and the hospital about their locations well in advance. "We have not recorded any issues with finding stops," she stated.
    The reconstruction includes new networks and the drainage of the area. "These are all expensive matters, which is why the budget is so high, even though we are discussing six bus stops," said Hamousova. The city obtained a subsidy of 38 million crowns from the Regional Operational Program Northwest for the construction; the city hall will pay 10 million crowns from its own resources.
    The appearance of the new transport terminal was developed by an architect. According to Hamousova, it will correspond with the entrance to the historic center of the city.
    The entire project must be completed administratively by the end of the year so that ROP Northwest can reimburse Zatec for the European subsidy. "I am convinced that everything will be done on time," said the mayor, who is also a senator.
    Hamousova returned to the head of the city in mid-January after the council was dismissed by the council with Mayor Ales Jelinek (Party of Free Citizens) at the helm. The new complete council, which was expanded to seven members at the beginning of February, is functioning without major issues, according to Hamousova. "We agree on practical matters; differing opinions exist on some issues, such as the display of the Tibetan flag," added Hamousova.
