Nové Město na Moravě - A demolition excavator began today to dismantle the old children's ward building at the hospital in Nové Město na Moravě. In its place, the Vysočina Region, as the hospital's founder, will build a new children's ward by the end of 2018. The new pavilion should enable healthcare providers to offer medical services that meet current standards. This was communicated to ČTK by the hospital's spokesperson, Petr Hladík.
During the construction of the new pavilion, child patients are being placed in other departments of the hospital. The new children's pavilion will have 33 beds, three of which will be designated for intermediate care. The capacity will increase by five beds compared to the old department. All specialized outpatient clinics will be located in the pavilion, and there will also be facilities for children and accompanying family members.
The Nové Město hospital has been striving for the construction of the new children's department for some time. The old building, some parts of which date back to the 1950s, no longer provided the necessary standard for patients or healthcare workers. "It was necessary to replace electrical installations, water, and sewage systems. The layout of the building was also no longer suitable for current needs," stated the hospital's technical deputy Jiří Drdla. According to him, the new building is designed as a passive house, which should lead to savings in operating costs.
The construction should be completed by the end of November 2018. The costs are expected to amount to nearly 72 million crowns.
