Nové Město na Moravě - The children's department of the hospital in Nové Město na Moravě is set for demolition in April. The relocation of the children's department's facilities will begin at the end of February. The outpatient and inpatient departments will operate at temporary locations starting in early March. The demolished pavilion will be replaced by a new one, which could begin serving patients by the end of 2018. The construction, valued at 100 million crowns, is funded from the budget of the Vysočina Region, which is the founder of the hospital. The hospital spokesman, Petr Hladík, announced this to ČTK today.
According to the hospital's technical deputy Jiří Drdla, the current children's pavilion was built in the 1950s and is the oldest building on the premises. "The technical condition corresponds to this - the windows do not seal, the electrical, water, and waste systems are outdated, and the spatial arrangement is also inadequate," Drdla told ČTK earlier. Therefore, he stated that demolition and construction of a new building is a better solution than renovating the old pavilion. Demolition machinery is expected to begin working on the building's removal from April 1.
Children's patients and their parents will find the outpatient and inpatient parts of the children's department at new locations starting in early March. "The outpatient clinic for receiving sick children will be located in the pharmacy building at the lower part of the hospital. The ENT outpatient clinic will relocate to the dermatology department, and pediatric neurology will temporarily be in the outpatient area of internal medicine," said the head nurse of the children's department, Soňa Svatoňová.
Doctors will treat pediatric patients with surgical diagnoses in the main surgical pavilion. The inpatient section will be located on the fourth floor of the gynecology-obstetrics pavilion. More detailed information about the temporary locations of children's outpatient clinics and inpatient sections will be provided by the hospital staff at the phone number 566 801 203.
The new building will be less energy-intensive, and doctors will work with modern technology. The pavilion will have specialized departments. According to Drdla, the inpatient capacity is expected to increase from the current 25 to 33 beds in rooms with one to four beds. The first floor will be reserved for outpatient operations. According to the deputy governor of Vysočina, Vladimír Novotný (ČSSD), the construction of the new children's department pavilion will be one of the last major investments in the hospital in Nové Město for a long time.
