Nové Město na Moravě - The construction of a children's pavilion officially began today at the hospital in Nové Město na Moravě. The new building will have 33 beds, three of which will be designated for intermediate care. The capacity will increase by five beds compared to the former children's department. The new pavilion is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. It is intended to enable healthcare providers to offer medical services that meet current standards. This was communicated to ČTK by the hospital spokesperson Petr Hladík.
Demolition work on the original building of the children's department began in the second half of August. The construction of the new children’s pavilion, valued at nearly 72 million koruna, is financed by the Vysočina Region. The contractor for the pavilion is the Žďár company PKS stavby. The pavilion will house all specialist outpatient clinics and will also create facilities for children and family companions.
The Nové Město hospital has been striving for the construction of a new children's department for some time. The old building, some parts of which date back to the 1950s, no longer provided the necessary standard for patients or healthcare workers. "It was necessary to replace the electrical installations, water, and sewage systems. Also, the layout of the building no longer met current needs," stated earlier the hospital's technical deputy Jiří Drdla. According to him, the new building is designed as a passive house, which should lead to savings in operating costs.
