Šlapanice (Brno region) – The leadership of Šlapanice in the Brno region today opened a new library, which was built for 50 million crowns from its own budget. The old library in the square was no longer suitable, and since a kindergarten is located in the same building, it will use this space for its needs, said the city's spokesperson Anna Mrázová during the opening.

Šlapanice has 7,500 inhabitants, but it is a center for a relatively large surrounding area, and especially the local primary school serves a large number of students from neighboring municipalities. They will now have the opportunity to borrow books from the new library on Riegrová Street in the city park. The new library is more spacious, and the building also includes a community hall where various events can be held. A café and restaurant have been operating in the building since July, making the library a place for gatherings.

The city built the library in just ten months on the site of a previous building that needed to be demolished. People were unable to borrow books for three months because the library needed to be relocated.
