Šlapanice - In Šlapanice near Brno, they are preparing to build a library and a bistro at the site of the historical jail in the park on Riegrova Street. This is part of the complete revitalization of the park, which began last year. The city is now looking for a company that will build the library and also make other modifications and repairs, including a music gazebo. The competitive price is 41 million crowns. According to city hall spokesman Jakub Mikšovský, the city hopes to start the year-and-a-half construction this fall if a construction company can be selected, he told ČTK.

"Currently, the library is located in Masaryk Square opposite the office, and the spaces are no longer adequate. First, it is necessary to demolish the current bistro and toilets," Mikšovský said. Public restrooms will also be included in the new building. The construction is expected to last a year and a half.

The plan also includes the reconstruction of the music gazebo, the repair of the war memorial, the relocation of utilities, and new public lighting. A new avenue will be planted along Riegrova Street.

The park on Riegrova Street is one of the most sought-after relaxation spots in the city, and last year, the amphitheater steps were demolished and modified to offer seating. The amphitheater can still serve cultural events, and the restored lawns can also be used for seating.
