Šumperk – Šumperk has successfully selected a city architect after three years of effort, who will oversee the city's development and also act as a link in negotiations with investors and developers. The position has been filled by forty-year-old Ivo Tuček, who was chosen from a selection process. This was announced by representatives of the town hall on the town's website. The town hall has long sought to renew this position; the selection procedure was announced back in 2019, but the previous winner ultimately refused the position.

Tuček, a native of Znojmo, has spent the last eight years as the head of the office of urban planning and city architects in Zlín. "My work will involve both consulting on already initiated projects and addressing entirely new topics. Of course, collaboration with the political representation will be crucial, as their role is absolutely key. If there is no political demand for expert opinions, all activities of such experts are in vain. However, I believe that this communication function is already effective today, and in fact, the establishment of the city architect position in Šumperk is proof of that,” noted Ivo Tuček.

According to town hall representatives, the city architect should be a guarantor and initiator of the urban development concept. The main focus of his work will be overseeing the appearance of Šumperk and providing consulting and advisory services in architecture and urbanism. "We expect him to propose, for example, ideas for improving public spaces or provide opinions on proposals for individual investment projects,” said Mayor Tomáš Spurný (For Šumperk) earlier.

The Šumperk town hall had to reissue the selection process for this position after the previous winner, Šumperk native and architect Štěpán Tomas, ultimately declined the role. Due to work commitments, other candidates who placed behind him also ultimately rejected the position.
