Šumperk – The Šumperk City Hall is looking for a city architect who will participate in the future shape of the city. They should also serve as a link for investors and developers. Additionally, they should provide consultations for the residents of the city, informed the ČTK spokesperson of the City Hall, Soňa Singerová. The architect, who will work externally for the city for about 30 hours a month, is set to start on January 1, 2020. The city aims to find them through a selection process. Interested parties can apply until September 16.

According to the city hall representatives, the architect should be the guarantor and initiator of the development concept of the city. The main focus of their work will be overseeing the appearance of Šumperk and providing consultancy and advisory services in architecture and urban planning. "We expect them to present suggestions for improving public spaces, or provide opinions on proposals for individual investment projects," stated Mayor Tomáš Spurný (For Šumperk).

The city architect will also ensure consultations for the city's citizens, property owners, investors, and developers, guiding their intentions so that they do not conflict with the urban-architectural development and concepts of the city. "The city leadership also expects them to act as an initiator and moderator for public discussions and forums organized by the city to encourage better citizen involvement in the city's development process," added the City Hall spokesperson.

For example, the neighboring town of Jeseník has its city architect, whom local residents can meet during office hours. Since last September, they have been available for consultation every Wednesday in the meeting room of the city office on Tovární Street, said Richard Kapustka, spokesperson for the Jeseník City Hall, to the ČTK.
