Velké Meziříčí (Žďársko) - Residents of Velké Meziříčí in the Žďár region can express their opinions in a survey about what changes they would like to see in the square. The results will guide the participants of the architectural competition for modifications to the square and the adjacent streets, which the city is preparing. This was stated today by Mayor Radovan Necid (ODS). People can submit the questionnaires until March 11 and can also fill them out electronically on the city's website.
"The square is nice, however, the surfaces are of poor quality - there's asphalt, cobblestones, and other things here," said the mayor. The restoration of the surfaces is to precede repairs to the infrastructure, namely the water supply and sewage systems. The town hall also wants to address traffic in the center of this town with 11,600 residents.
The preparations for the project to modify the center, which, according to initial estimates, will cost around 80 million crowns, will take a longer time. "This is a process that we are initiating. If we metaphorically dig, then maybe in 2018," predicts Necid. The assignment for the public architectural competition should be discussed by the town council on April 5. "After that, we can launch the actual competition," he said.
In ten questions, the questionnaire asks residents, for example, whether they most often visit the square for walks or for cultural events, official matters, and shopping. Residents can also express what bothers them most in the square and whether they prefer parking or pedestrian zones in that area. They can also provide their opinion on the traffic load in the center. Completed questionnaires can be dropped into sealed boxes at the town hall reception or at the cashier's desk of the municipal office in the savings bank building.
