<Velké Meziříčí> in November will present proposals for the modification of the center

Velké Meziříčí - The town hall in Velké Meziříčí will present to the public next month the designs for the transformation of the city center that emerged from the architectural competition. Sixteen architectural studios participated, and the team led by Brno architect David Mikulášek won. The city could carry out the changes to the square and the adjacent streets in two years, provided the necessary steps are approved by its council. This was stated by mayor Radovan Necid (ODS) to ČTK.

An exhibition of all submitted designs will start on November 3 and will also include the protocols from the competition jury's meetings. "The change in the face of our center is such a drastic intervention in the life of the city that it is necessary for everyone to know as much as possible about it," the mayor stated. In addition to paving, the proposed interventions also concern furniture and greenery.

The costs for the new layout of the central part of Velké Meziříčí, which has 11,600 residents, should not exceed 50 million crowns. This will be accompanied by the replacement of old networks, particularly water supply and sewage. Councilors will already decide during the preparation of the city budget for next year whether to include four million crowns for project documentation in the expenditures.

The architectural competition was announced by the city council on April 7. The jury was chaired by architect and actor David Vávra. In assessing the designs, the jurors did not know the names of their authors. The city originally planned to hold the exhibition in September. However, one competition participant announced an appeal to the chamber's professional court of the Czech Chamber of Architects. According to information on the city's website, he did not pay the deposit by the deadline, and the court will not consider the appeal. The competition designs will be exhibited in the Jupiter club until November 25.
