The Board of the Czech Chamber of Architects elected architect Ivan Plicka as its chairman again at its first meeting after the April General Assembly. This is his fifth term in office. Jaroslav Šafer became the first vice-chairman, and David Hlouch the second. The elections to the leadership of the Chamber confirmed the established direction and the effort to continue with the priorities advocated in the previous period. These include service to members, public administration, and self-government not only in the awarding of public contracts, promoting architectural competitions, and strengthening the position of the city architect. Another task of the Chamber is to promote the quality results of the work of architects through the Czech Architecture Award.

The Chamber also intends to continue in its legal obligation to comment on important legislation. The April General Assembly simultaneously defined four main areas on which the CAA should focus – in addition to the aforementioned provision of service to its members, these are the promotion of the architect profession and quality architecture, protection of public interests, care for the quality of the built environment, and cooperation within the Czech Republic and internationally. The Chamber should also reflect on the transformation of the profession in the emerging era of modern technologies.

Architect Ivan Plicka (*1958) has been a member of the CAA Board since April 2014 and has served as chairman since May 2014. He is also the chairman of the CAA Working Group for Standards and Fees, which, together with CAAIT, presented the Calculator for Determining the Estimated Value of Project Activities in June 2014 – a tool that allows the fairly easy determination of the value of spatial planning documentation, project work for both ground and landscape buildings, or investment costs of construction by entering input data. Ivan Plicka is also a member of the CAA Working Group for Urbanism. He also chairs the Council of the Czech Architecture Award, which is responsible for the dramaturgy of this competitive showcase. He is also a member of the editorial board of the CAA Bulletin. Architect Plicka simultaneously leads a studio at the Institute of Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture of CVUT in Prague. In addition to working with students, he is engaged in private architectural practice.

Martin Rusina remains the first vice-chairman, and David Mikulášek became the second vice-chairman. The elections to the presidency of the Association Court confirmed the posts of chairman for David Mateásko and vice-chairman for Václav Šebek.
