The Board of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) re-elected architect Ivan Plicka as its head during its meeting on May 5, 2015. At the general assembly of the Czech Chamber of Architects held on April 18, new members of all self-governing bodies of the Chamber were elected. From among them, the chairs and vice-chairs of the board, supervisory board, and the Chamber Court were elected in these days.
The elections for the leadership of all three bodies of the Chamber confirmed the set direction and the effort to continue with the priorities promoted in the previous period. These include architectural competitions - their promotion, support for organizers, and professional training for both cities and municipalities, as well as for jury members among architects. The Chamber also intends to continue its statutory obligation to comment on important legal regulations. This fact is now facilitated by the ČKA's status as an official commenting body in the legislative process, allowing it to participate in discussions on relevant laws and regulations at the Legislative Council of the Government. The Chamber's leadership also aims to promote qualitative criteria in the selection of public contracts so that investors do not consider only the lowest price.
Architect Ivan Plicka (1958) leads a studio at the Institute of Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University. In addition to working with students, he is also involved in private architectural practice. He further serves as a member of working groups for Urbanism and Fees (a joint working group with ČKAIT). He is also actively engaged in issues related to architectural competitions.
Vice-chairs of the Czech Chamber of Architects were also elected. Pavel Hnilička and Jaroslav Šafer defended their vice-chair positions, and Pavel Martinek was elected as a new vice-chair. In recent days, elections were also held for two other bodies of the Chamber - the supervisory board and the Chamber Court. Pavel Rada defended the position of chairman of the supervisory board, Miroslav Holubec became the 1st vice-chair, and Jana Kaštánková became the 2nd vice-chair. Václav Šebek was re-elected as the chairman of the Chamber Court, and David Mateásko as vice-chair.
