The Board of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) elected architect Jan Kasl as its new chairman at its first meeting after the general assembly held on April 23. Petr Velička became the first vice-chairman, and Milan Svoboda became the second vice-chairman. The change in the leadership of ČKA comes after five years. The Chamber will continue with its established priorities under the new leadership.

It will focus on four main areas - providing services to its members, promoting the profession of architect and quality architecture, protecting public interests, and caring for the quality of the built environment and cooperation both within the Czech Republic and internationally. The Chamber will also continue its fundamental activities established by law, specifically commenting on legal regulations important for the exercise of the profession. A key issue is the ongoing process of the recodification of public construction law. The Chamber will also continue organizing the competitive showcase of Czech architecture, the Czech Architecture Award.
Architect Jan Kasl (*1951) has been a member of the Board of ČKA since April 2018. He is also a member of the ČKA Working Group for Legislation. He actively represents the Chamber in working groups involved in the process of recodification of public construction law. Architect Kasl concurrently engages in his own architectural practice.
In the past, Jan Kasl was active in the political sphere, serving as the mayor of the capital city of Prague from 1998 to 2002.

Elections for the presidency of the Chamber court, similar to last year, confirmed the positions of chairman for David Mateásko and vice-chairman for Václav Šebek.
