Brno - The Chairman of the Board of Thermal Pasohlávky, Jiří Škrla, wants to submit his resignation at the upcoming general meeting. Monika Brindzáková, spokesperson for the South Moravian Region, which established the company together with the municipality of Pasohlávky to develop a spa zone around Pasohlávky, said this to ČTK today. According to Brindzáková, an extraordinary council meeting will take place for this reason, but the date of the general meeting is still unknown. ČTK was unable to obtain Škrla's statement.

The Deputy Governor Taťána Malá (ANO) previously told ČTK that the region will consider changes in the board, including the chairman. She justified this with poor management and a lack of support for the plan to create Chinese spas for two billion crowns.

Škrla sent a letter to the region. "In it, he informed that he wants to submit his resignation at the next general meeting. However, it is not yet scheduled. That is why an extraordinary council meeting is called, which is likely to be at the end of July. After that, there will be a general meeting where it will be addressed," Brindzáková stated.

The board has three members. Two represent the region, one represents the municipality. Besides Škrla, former mayor of Pasohlávky, Tomáš Ingr, is there, and until June, Martin Itterheim represented the region, but he left after less than two months. He joined the company to develop a plan for the construction of a spa complex. He justified his departure by saying that he did not feel support from his colleagues, especially Škrla. According to him, Škrla has said several times that he does not support the Chinese side. If one of the two remaining board members were to leave now, the board could not function. The region will address this according to Brindzáková. The third member has not yet been selected.

By the end of September, a project proposal for the creation of a spa complex, which the Chinese want to build for two billion, is to be completed. The proposal would then be evaluated by the region, the municipality, and the Chinese side. This year, representatives of the region signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Chinese company RiseSun. According to Malá, the creation of the proposal will likely be delayed given the situation. "I believe this will not be a fundamental problem and we will be able to explain it to the investor. We are addressing new people. We want to have those who will work intensively and be committed to fulfilling the obligations the region has," Malá added.

Besides the lack of support for the spa project, Malá mentioned that another problem is poor management. She cited as an example 1.5 million crowns annually for an external law firm or the purchase of significantly more expensive business class tickets. The company reported a loss of 17 million crowns last year.

The region and the municipality established Thermal Pasohlávky in 2007, since when the company has been building infrastructure near Pasohlávky. The Chinese spas are to be built for two billion crowns on an area of 20 hectares. Pasohlávky is located about 30 kilometers from Brno. Nearby are the Pálava Protected Landscape Area and the Lednice-Valtice Area. The vicinity is frequently visited by tourists.
