Pasohlávky

Brno – The construction of the spa complex in Pasohlávky in the Brno region is likely to be postponed by a year. It was originally supposed to be completed by 2026. The Chinese company RiseSun, which is building the spa with initially estimated costs of two billion crowns, requested the extension due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Today, the South Moravian councilors approved the postponement of the completion date to January 2027, which must be confirmed by the general meeting of the company Thermal Pasohlávky, where the region is a majority owner.

The councilors supported the extension of the deadline but did not approve further proposed changes. These concerns included the sale of all non-essential land before the completion of projects, changing the obligation to hold a guarantee in the bank for securing contractual obligations in the amount of 100 million, or reducing the number of spa beds in favor of commercial ones. "The minimum capacity of 150 beds for comprehensive spa care is a cornerstone for us, which we insist on," said the deputy of the governor, Jan Zámečník (KDU-ČSL).

The Chinese investor selected an architectural design as early as 2020, and the first phase of construction was supposed to start at the end of this year. This was to be followed by two more phases, with the entire project scheduled to be completed by 2026 at the latest. Based on the approved postponement, the entire project should therefore be completed in January 2027. In addition, Thermal Pasohlávky plans to build a healing Sanatorium Pálava near the spa complex for about half a billion crowns. The institution, with 160 beds, will offer rehabilitative care.
