The Prague City Hall has once again rejected the criticized building near Parukářka

Prague - Officials from the Prague City Hall have annulled the zoning decision for construction at the Parukářka hill in Prague's Žižkov for the third time based on submitted appeals, which locals have long criticized. The building authority of Prague 3, according to city officials, did not adequately assess the impact of the years-planned construction on the urbanism of its surroundings. The decision was published by the City Hall on the official notice board. According to the project, four interconnected buildings are to be a senior home, but local residents are concerned that it is merely a facade for the investor to fulfill the function outlined in the zoning plan.

This is already the third version of the project that the investor plans for the land between Na Parukářce and Jeseniova streets; the previous two were returned by the City Hall for revision based on appeals filed. The first one from 2007 envisaged the construction of luxury villa houses, despite the fact that according to the zoning plan, the plots are designated for social and healthcare services. The next version of the project therefore added medical offices, but again without success.

Now the City Hall has also rejected the third version titled "Senior Home Parukářka." The office upheld one of the numerous objections filed by local communities and residents who have been fighting against the proposal since the beginning. "The building authority did not properly address all issues that should be assessed when placing the construction in the area. In particular, the acceptability of the building in the area in terms of its architectural and urban values," stated the decision of the construction department of the City Hall.

A local referendum on the Parukářka development took place in 2014, but the participation was too low, and the voting was not binding for the city council. In the previous electoral term, the then leadership of Prague 3, led by Mayor Vladislava Hujová (formerly of TOP 09), negotiated with the investor company WH Estate to modify and reduce the project. However, according to local residents, even with the modifications, the buildings would exceed the horizon of the hill, which they oppose.
