Prague - The capital city has regained ownership of approximately a two-hectare area between Parukářka and Pitterova Street. According to councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09), the municipality paid nearly 32 million crowns for it. As spokeswoman for Prague 3 Michaela Luňáčková informed ČTK, the previously fenced land has been opened to the public, and in the future, a park named after the founder of the Žižkov Milíčov dock, Přemysl Pitter, is expected to be established there. The city will also obtain land near the Olšany cemeteries, which it also wants to make accessible.

"The land was previously municipal. I wish there would never be people sitting in the municipality who allow such a valuable piece of land to be transferred into the hands of land speculators for a pittance," stated the mayor of Prague 3 Jiří Ptáček (TOP 09). The capital city purchased the land at an auction due to foreclosure.

The land was originally designated as recreational areas in the urban plan, but in 2001 the then leadership of Prague 3 approved a change to building plots and leased the land to a developer for 70 years, who promised to build a sports and recreational complex on it. This never happened. In 2006, the municipality swapped the plots for others, which the current leadership claims was unfavorable.

At present, the plots are meadows, and the municipality would like to transform them into a park in the future. "We want to name the area Přemysl Pitter Park. He was a devoted person. For example, he founded Milíč's house, which is located nearby, where he cared for children from socially disadvantaged families from Žižkov," stated the deputy mayor of the district Tomáš Mikeska (STAN).

According to councilor Chabr, the municipality will also acquire additional plots in Prague 3, currently owned by the city company Pražské služby. In exchange, they will obtain land near the Malešice incinerator, where a biogas station is expected to be built in the future. The land that will be transferred to the city is located at the northern wall of the Olšany cemeteries, and the municipal district plans to open it to the public and connect Jičínska Street and Jan Želivský Street.
