Prague will buy land in Vidoule for a leisure complex

Prague - The Prague City Hall will purchase land on the table mountain Vidoule in Prague 5 for approximately 56.4 million crowns, where a sports and relaxation zone and park are planned to be created. The City Hall is also negotiating the exchange of other plots so that the entire area of the future complex is owned by the city by mid-year. The buyout was approved by the councilors today. The city already purchased part of the parcels last year for 23 million crowns and the year before that for about 115.5 million.

The table mountain Vidoule is a landmark of the natural park Košíře-Motol, located between Košíře and Butovice. According to councilor for property Jan Chabr (TOP 09), Prague 5 and the City Hall plan to build, for example, a running and skating track, meadows for kite flying, and natural sports facilities in the planned leisure area. The parcels, whose buyout was approved by councilors today, cover an area of approximately 86.2 hectares.

According to a study commissioned by Prague 5, the natural monument, where development companies have previously sought to build, will also feature new paths and furniture in addition to outdoor sports facilities. The plan includes the planting of greenery, and the old anti-aircraft bunkers located on the hill are to be utilized. Chabr added that discussions would still take place with the Prague 5 municipality to determine which plots the City Hall will hand over for management and which it will keep.
