The repair of the Dobrošov fortress has so far cost 64 million CZK

Hradec Králové – The repair of the pre-war fortress Dobrošov in the Náchod region has so far cost approximately 64 million crowns including VAT. The visitor center has been completed, and now the Hradec Králové Region is waiting for a decision on the occupancy permit. Dan Lechmann, the region's spokesperson, told ČTK. Since autumn, work inside the fortress buildings has been suspended due to bat protection. Construction work will resume on April 16. The national cultural monument belongs to the Hradec Králové Region.

"According to the current plan, the construction should cost 79 million crowns including VAT, with equipment costing 21.4 million. In total, including project documentation, its updates, and other expenses, we are now estimating around 107 million crowns for the entire revitalization project. The region will only announce the competition for the supply of equipment," Lechmann told ČTK.

The regional council approved a total of 117 million crowns for the entire project, so there is currently a reserve of about ten million crowns.

The reconstruction began in the summer of the year before last. The deadline for completing the grant project is by the end of 2021. The repair is being carried out by a consortium of companies Solid Care and Gemec-Union. The grant from the European IROP program will be 65.5 million crowns.

"In January, finishing works were taking place in the visitor center, and in February and March, the contractor was addressing deficiencies from the handover protocol. Work in the fortifications is halted until April 15 due to the protection of nesting bats," Lechmann told ČTK.

The Dobrošov fortress began construction in September 1937 to protect the republic against Nazi Germany, along with other border fortifications. However, by the closing of the Munich Agreement, which ceded border territories of Czechoslovakia to Germany in September 1938, the fortress was not completed. Workers managed to finish only three of the seven planned structures.
