Prague/Brno - A total of seven applicants registered for the public competition for the project documentation for the new television studio of Czech Television (ČT) in Brno. Companies could submit applications until January 28, and representatives of ČT opened the envelopes with the bidders' offers this morning. ČTK was informed about this by ČT spokesman Ladislav Šticha. The estimated cost of preparing the documentation is 21 million crowns. The new studio is expected to cost around 600 million CZK and should be completed according to earlier information in 2013.
When the winner of the tender will be announced is difficult to estimate according to Šticha. According to earlier statements by the spokesperson of the Brno studio, Hana Orošová, the winner of the tender could be selected by the end of February, provided that no one from the participating bidders files an objection.
The main criteria for awarding the contract to the company is the offered price, which accounts for 60 percent of the evaluation. Another 20 percent is based on the schedule for fulfilling the contract, while the remaining fifth pertains to penalty conditions.
The new ČT studio in Brno will ultimately be located in Líšeň on land that ČT purchased last autumn for 40 million crowns from the Brno-based Zetor. The total area of the land is 17,000 square meters. According to ČT's vision, the new studio should offer, among other things, news studios, facilities for television equipment such as workshops, service areas, or an archive, and necessary administrative spaces. "The building was intended to include a new, fully variable multifunctional hall for the production of television programs," Orošová already mentioned earlier.
ČT previously announced the competition once before, only to cancel it later. The reason was disputes over the originally considered land in Brno-Bosonohy, which the television ultimately abandoned. In connection with the unsuccessful negotiations about purchasing the land, ČT had to cancel the tender for the project contractor for the construction as well. The tender was based on specific conditions offered by the land in Bosonohy, where the construction was planned to take place "on greenfield."
In the past, the television also pursued the area of the former Jaselské barracks near the center of Brno, where the series Četnické humoresky was filmed. However, it ultimately reconsidered this due to the high price and unclear ownership relations. The location of the studio in the Brno district of Žebětín was also considered as an alternative option.
Currently, the television is based in two buildings in the city center, which do not fully meet the needs of ČT. The buildings date back to the First Republic and have not undergone a complete renovation yet. The Typos building on Jezuitská street was originally a residential building, and the basement space, where the studio is now located, used to be a dance hall. The building on Běhounská street previously served as a bank. Furthermore, ČT has warehouses and garages in Židenice. They would like to sell all buildings and use the proceeds to cover part of the costs for the construction of the new headquarters.
