Brno - A new building for the Brno studio of Czech Television (ČT) will be built in Brno-Bosonohy. The management no longer considers an alternative location for the studio in the Brno district of Žebětín. CTK was informed today by ČT's technical director Rudolf Pop. The estimated costs for the construction of the studio, including technical equipment, exceed 600 million crowns. The studio is expected to be completed by the end of 2012. The television plans to sign a contract with a real estate agency for land acquisition by the end of February next year. The new studio will occupy approximately 15,000 square meters, and according to Pop, a few final plots still need to be acquired. "The company guarantees us that the land will be ready by the deadlines specified in the contract, otherwise they face financial penalties," Pavel Čermák from the Brno ČT studio said today at an offsite meeting of the ČT Council in Brno. In addition to land purchases, the television is facing another important decision in the near future: the selection of a contractor for the studio construction project. In the first round of the tender process, which concluded last week, none of the applicants met the requirements; the television plans to announce the second round within two weeks. "We will make minor changes to the tender documentation to emphasize the conditions we insist on that may have been misunderstood. We should sign a contract with the contractor by the end of February," Čermák said. The third key decision concerns the position of project manager. The Brno studio has contacted three recruitment agencies in recent weeks, assigning them requirements for the manager's education and experience. Currently, we have specific offers from all agencies, and the manager could take up the position in January, Čermák added. Currently, the television operates in two buildings in the city center. However, their layout does not fully meet television needs. Both buildings date back to the First Republic and have not been fully renovated. The Typos building on Jezuitská Street was originally an apartment building, and the basement space, where the studio is now located, used to be a ballroom. The building on Běhounská Street previously served as a bank. Additionally, the television has warehouses and garages in Židenice. ČT wants to sell all the buildings and use the proceeds to cover part of the costs for constructing the new headquarters. In the past, the television sought the site of the former Jaselské barracks near the center of Brno, where the series Četnické humoresky was filmed. Ultimately, however, they reconsidered due to the high price and unclear ownership relations.
