Jablonné v Podještědí - The rescue of the wooden house in Úpice or the restoration of the Tomáš Baťa Memorial in Zlín are just two of the initiatives that were today honored by the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) at Lemberk Castle in the Liberec region. The Patrimonium pro futuro awards were presented for the sixth time. The jury selected from 24 candidates in four categories, and three special awards from the general director of NPÚ were also granted, along with the lifetime contribution award for an individual in heritage care and the public award "Heritage Thanks."


"The mission of the Patrimonium pro futuro Award is to highlight the merits and positive examples in the field of heritage care, to draw attention to the stories behind these monuments, and especially to recognize and thank those who contributed to it. All 24 nominated initiatives are exceptionally successful, and we believe that thanks to the Patrimonium pro futuro Award, both experts and the general public will learn about these projects and their initiators," said the general director of NPÚ, Naďa Goryczková, today.

The award, symbolized by a bronze medal, was granted by the expert jury in four categories. For the restoration of the Tomáš Baťa Memorial in Zlín, project author Petr Všetečka and the city of Zlín were honored. The Roman Catholic parish of Těrlicko and restorers Romana Balcarová and Lenka Helfertová received an award for the discovery of a late Gothic panel painting of the Madonna from Těrlicko. In the presentation of values category, a group of experts won for the project "History in the Field - Litvínov Region," and the city of Úpice received an award for the rescue of a timber-framed house from the early 17th century.

The award for an individual in heritage care for lifetime contribution to the care of cultural heritage was awarded to academic sculptor Andrej Šumbera. The special award from the NPÚ director was given to the Prague 7 district for the overall restoration of the water tower in Letná, the municipality of Štědrá for the restoration of the Štědrá Castle, and the city of Jaroměř for the restoration of the Dr. Miroslav Tyrš Bridge. The "Heritage Thanks" award, determined by public internet voting, was granted to the city of Polička for the restoration of the Marian column.
