Vladimírovo knihkupectví Serius and the PLAC association, with financial support from the Czech Architecture Foundation, cordially invite you to the 67th lecture in the series Printed Architecture, which will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 6:30 PM. Klára Brůhová from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Architecture of CTU in Prague will present the book Women in Architecture. The publication addresses the topic of women in Czech architecture in the second half of the 20th century from both the historical perspective of architecture and in interdisciplinary contexts from the viewpoint of sociology, general history, and gender studies. It focuses on the circumstances of the practice and education of female architects, the connection between professional and family life, as well as the reflection and recognition of women's creative work in the field. The lecture will also present the professional trajectory and work of Milada Petříková-Pavlíková, the first promoted architect to leave the gates of Prague's CTU. It will also introduce selected representatives of subsequent generations of female architects, their professional engagement in the domestic architectural scene, and the reception of their work. The publication was created as part of an extensive research project, which includes an open web database zenyvarchitekture.cz.
