Česká Lípa - The largest investment in Česká Lípa this year will again be the construction of a new outdoor swimming pool in Dubice, with a budget of 130 million crowns allocated for its completion, which is expected to be ready by summer. The city hall is also planning to start the reconstruction of the burned-down Kounic House. Nearly 254 million crowns is prepared for investments in the budget, about a third less than last year, CTK found out today from the draft budget that city representatives will approve on Wednesday, January 31.
Česká Lípa is planning revenues of 1.085 billion crowns this year, while expenses will be 141 million crowns higher. The city leadership does not anticipate any indebtedness; as in previous years, the deficit will be covered by funds from the investment fund and other accounts, which had nearly 1.23 billion crowns at the beginning of last year. About one-fifth of the budget will go towards investments. "We are discussing the possibility of renovating the stadium, for which the project documentation is currently estimated at 32 million crowns," added mayor Jitka Volfová (ANO).
The swimming pool is being built by a consortium of companies Metrostav DIZ and CL-Evans, with a project worth 290 million crowns, which is the largest investment in the modern history of the city, with work starting last March. There have been several plans for a swimming pool in the city with 37,000 inhabitants over the past 30 years. Initially, construction in Dubice was considered, but the previous city leadership led by the CSSD prepared the construction of a pool next to the Sports Complex in the center. The project, worth about 108 million crowns, faced criticism due to its location. The new city leadership, led by ANO, decided to abandon that plan and return to the plans in Dubice.
The project for the new swimming pool was developed by Centroprojekt Group, which has previously collaborated on pools and aquaparks in Pasohlávky, Hradec Králové, as well as in Poprad in Slovakia and Poreč in Croatia. A pool with attractions will be built next to the flooded quarry in Dubice, where swimming has been banned for years due to an overgrowth of blue-green algae. The water there has proven difficult to clean. The new area will connect with existing attractions, such as the water cableway or the 3D maze. There will also be a picnic meadow, campsite, and spaces for caravans added.
Last year, the representatives approved a budget with revenues of 1.045 billion crowns and expenses of 1.324 billion crowns, with nearly 372 million set aside for investments. After adjustments, revenues increased due to grants and higher tax income to almost 1.158 billion crowns, while expenses reached 1.531 billion crowns. Ultimately, nearly 489 million crowns went to investments. Česká Lípa is planning an even larger amount of money for investments in the next two years, expected to exceed half a billion crowns each time. Plans include the reconstruction of Škroup Square or the construction of a new city library.
