Blansko - On the site of the dilapidated Dukla hotel in the center of Blansko, a park with a café, a space for concerts, and also an obstacle course for youth will be created following its demolition this year by spring next year. The project will cost about nine million crowns and will be funded by the municipality. Blansko mayor Ivo Polák (CSSD) said this to journalists today. The modifications of the area will be permanent. The city thus abandoned its original plan, according to which it wanted to offer the land to developers for further construction in the future. "Instead, we will permanently improve it. The main goal will be to make the center of Blansko more attractive so that it is not deserted on weekends and attracts more people to visit," explained the mayor. The city had the architect Martin Habina create two studies for the use of 3,000 square meters in Republic Square, which will become available after the demolition of Dukla. It will publish them on its website and allow citizens to choose which one will be built. The center of Blansko currently lacks a café with outdoor seating. In addition to it, there will be a playground for children and a parkour course for youth in the park. A similar facility was recently established in Brno, for example. The basement of the hotel will remain preserved underground, which could be used as a music club, wine bar, or public restrooms. In the park, Habina plans to install sculptures made of artistic cast iron, which has a long tradition in the city. An open pavilion intended for concerts, various performances, and city celebrations will also be created there. "We will also create a lawn where people can relax on warm summer days right next to the newly built water feature," added Habina. The demolition of the hotel will cost ten million crowns. The city purchased it at auction some time ago for 30.5 million crowns, as residents were concerned that it would become a hostel for marginalized individuals.
