Mrakodrap AZ Tower rises into the sky, the construction is almost halfway complete

Brno - The Brno skyscraper AZ Tower, which is to become the tallest building in the Czech Republic, is rising into the sky. The construction company PSJ is working on the rough construction of the 14th floor out of a total of 30 floors. The entire rough construction is to be completed this October, PSJ stated in a press release. The project is expected to cost over 800 million crowns.
    "We are currently at the rough construction of the monolith on the fourteenth floor. This means that the construction is going exactly according to schedule, at a pace of one floor every two weeks," said Pavel Tureček from PSJ. According to him, the company will start working on the facade on May 1. "All installations are currently being carried out from the second underground floor up to the fifth above-ground floor," Tureček stated. The entire construction is planned to be completed by mid-next year.
    The AZ Tower is to measure 111 meters and will consequently become the tallest building in the country. The tallest building in the Czech Republic to date is the City Tower office skyscraper in Prague's Pankrác, which measures 109 meters and has 27 above-ground floors. The company ECM completed the building in 2008; according to the latest available data, the investment amounted to approximately 90 million euros, which is about 2.2 billion crowns at the current exchange rate.
    The tallest residential building is currently being constructed in Prague-Vysočany. The building named Residence Eliška will have 25 floors, with the height of the building planned to be around 90 meters. The investment for the entire project will be approximately half a billion crowns.
    The Brno AZ Tower is already half leased, and the construction so far has cost more than 200 million crowns. Investors want to incorporate ecological technologies into it; for example, the entire elevator shaft will be covered with photovoltaic panels that will supply electricity to the common areas. Offices, shops, and apartments are still available for purchase or rent in the AZ Tower. For instance, an apartment nearly 74 square meters in size there costs over five million crowns.
    The skyscraper is rising near the center of Brno. The competing CTP recently received occupancy permits for the nearby Spielberk Tower B. It is currently the tallest building in the city, measuring 85 meters and has 20 floors. CTP stated a week ago in response to a CTK inquiry that it has so far rented about five percent of the offices, and other potential tenants are about to sign contracts. The complex also plans to build a hotel, whose rough construction is underway, with completion planned for next year.
