Brno - The real estate group CPI Property Group has published four architectural studies for the development of the northern part of the Brno Nová Zbrojovka complex. People can vote on the internet until mid-December on which proposal they like the most. They can also add their suggestions about what would be suitable for the area. The three-dimensional models will be available from Monday at the office of the Brno city architect in Zelný trh, spokesperson Jakub Velen told ČTK today.
The northern part of the complex, referred to on the website as Zone 1, is the largest of the six zones and is intended for administration and possibly light manufacturing. It is bordered by the Svitava River to the west, the railway to the east, and the northern boundary of the area. It includes a tall building of the former tool shop, which is already being renovated for administrative purposes and is expected to be operational in about a year. One more building in the western part is to be preserved, while the others will be demolished.
The assignment to the four architectural firms was the same. "They had to preserve both industrial buildings, suitably supplement the area with new administrative and recreational facilities including related services, propose sufficient parking capacities, appropriately define the area for the placement of an energy center for the entire region, and respect the proposed flood protection measures," said Velen.
The developer already has experience with voting and public comments regarding Zone 6 of the complex, which is located in the southeastern part. From more than 500 votes, the proposal by the firm Kuba & Pilař architects won. "I am pleased that we have managed to open a discussion with the public. The comments and suggestions from people regarding the individual proposals are very important to us. Only in this way do we have the opportunity to shape the future appearance of the Nová Zbrojovka complex together," said Zdeněk Havelka, the executive director of CPI Property Group.
The area of the former Zbrojovka is a twenty-hectare brownfield in the Židenice district. Its redevelopment will likely take place in phases over more than ten years. Out of 100 buildings, only four will remain, and the area will be made permeable and accessible from multiple sides. Currently, it can only be accessed from Lazaretní Street.
