Kolín - In Kolín, they are rescuing the former water tower, which recently became a cultural monument. Currently, they are securing the building to prevent further deterioration. The municipality has spent about 1.2 million crowns on the renovations, with part of the costs covered by a state grant. However, the city does not have the funds for a full renovation, which would cost over ten million crowns. This was stated by Deputy Mayor Jan Pospíšil. "The work being done will secure the building so that it does not deteriorate. It will not leak, and the walkways around it will be re-sheeted," he said. In the future, the city would like to create a relaxation zone with benches around the tower. Currently, the building is empty and not being used. The former water tower is one of the landmarks of the city. It was built in 1930 as a work of architects František Janda and Jan Hráský. The original owner, a water management company, sold it to a private individual years ago, who then sold it to another interested party. In the meantime, the building fell into disrepair. Eventually, it was acquired by the city.
