The design for this house is a cube of 9 x 9 x 9 meters below the surface. Natural light can only flow into the house from above. The underground house is a symbol of intimacy, a shelter. By gradually becoming familiar with it, we enter its depths. We approach its most private places. Individual functions/rooms are arranged in levels according to their degree of intimacy. The bedroom is in a glass cube at the very bottom of the open shaft, in the garden. This allows for contact with nature - rain, sun, stars, while still providing protection. The simplicity of the floor plan and the clear operational scheme bring true feasibility to the project. The built part has a glass roof. Adjustable slats control the climate of the rooms. In the remaining uncovered space, greenery thrives. Every day spent in this house can be seen as a unique display of light and shadows.
