Prague - This summer, vehicle traffic on the Nusle Bridge in Prague will once again be restricted due to repairs of the bridge and the Vyšehradská metro station tunnel. Traffic will be reduced in each direction from three lanes to two. This was announced today by the spokesman of the Prague City Hall, Vít Hofman. The Nusle Bridge has been undergoing repairs for the past few years and was fully opened after renovations last November.

Traffic will be restricted from July 1 to August 31. Work will progressively take place in sections of approximately 100 meters in length.

The nearly half-kilometer long bridge over the Nusle Valley was completed in 1973. Its surface has a road with three lanes in each direction, carrying thousands of cars every day, as well as two sidewalks, and inside the bridge is a tunnel for the metro line. In 2011, a multi-year reconstruction costing 288 million crowns began due to water leaking into the support structure tunnel, which also endangered metro operations. Among other things, the upper surface of the bridge deck and the bottom slab of the tunnel were repaired, and the roadway and waterproofing layers were replaced.
