Brno - The city district of Brno-Kohoutovice will reconstruct the apartment cores in 820 apartments this year and next year for 190 million crowns. The city will initially provide 37 million crowns, half as a grant and half as a loan. CTK was informed today by the spokesperson of the magistrate, Filip Poňuchálek. The magistrate will negotiate further support of more than 100 million crowns.

The city district submitted a request for funds from the City of Brno's Housing Construction Fund last year. On Tuesday, the councilors approved the allocation of 19 million as a grant and 18 million as a loan with 45 votes in favor.

This year, 398 apartments will be repaired, with the remaining 422 in the following year. Altogether, they are located in 63 buildings. According to the plan, Brno should provide an additional grant of 22 million and nearly 18 million in loans next year. "Negotiations will also concern an extraordinary loan of over 74 million," added Poňuchálek. In total, Kohoutovice would thus utilize about 150 million crowns from the fund.

The tender for the construction work is already completed. "Within two years, the housing stock of Kohoutovice should reach a very good condition," said Petr Hladík, the mayor's assistant (KDU-ČSL).

Most apartment buildings in Kohoutovice are in panel blocks. Brno owns nearly 30,000 apartments. Other city districts are also renovating them. However, this usually happens gradually and through smaller contracts.
