Brno - The new town hall, including a community hall for cultural events, is set to begin construction in the Brno district of Kohoutovice at the end of next year. The municipal district has selected an architectural office that will prepare the project documentation. The town hall will be located near the post office at the Stamicova trolleybus stop. Mayor Petr Šafařík (ČSSD) told reporters today that the expected costs are around 80 million crowns.
Six teams applied for the architectural competition, with the winner being the company Pelčák and partner. All proposals will now be displayed at the town hall until November 22. "Now, if we agree on the price with the competition winner, we will sign a contract in a negotiation procedure without publication for the preparation of the project documentation. We would like to start construction at the end of next year. It should be completed in 16 months, i.e., at the beginning of 2019," said Šafařík.
According to him, the residents of Kohoutovice are eagerly awaiting the new construction. "Today, the town hall is located in the old development and is sometimes difficult to access in winter. We don't even have a place to hold cultural events. The building will also include two floors of parking spaces," Šafařík stated.
The plan to build a new town hall and community hall is 14 years old, but the council has long been unable to advance the project.
