Zlín - In Zlín's Alternative, all the proposals evaluated by the judging committee during the announcement of architectural competitions for improving the appearance of the city center will be displayed in just a few days. This concerns the so-called Gahur's Promenade - the forecourt of the Cultural and University Center, the underpass to the Náměstí Práce (Work Square), and Komenský Park. The exhibition will start on August 1 and will last until September 8.
Zlín called for architectural competitions for the individual parts. A total of 60 proposals were submitted. By the middle of 2013, the city hall may draw up to 120 million CZK from European funds for these investments.
"For interest, we also included architect Jiřičná's proposal in the Alternative, even though it was not competitive. Often, however, competitive proposals are compared with the design that was commissioned by the political representation before us," said the Deputy Mayor Eva Štauderová (M.O.R.) to ČTK.
The coalition consisting of ODS, ČSSD, and KDU-ČSL, which led Zlín before last autumn's elections, approved during its tenure that the architectural study would be developed by AI-DESIGN of architect Jiřičná. The mayor, Irena Ondrová (ODS), justified this at the time by stating that the entire space is connected to the newly built Congress and University Center. Both buildings and the space between them are indeed from Jiřičná's workshop. Jiřičná did not enter the newly announced competitions.
"I think it will be interesting for people to see what was proposed and what was ultimately selected by the expert jury," the deputy added.
The winners of all three architectural competitions have been known since June. Gahur's Promenade is set to be revitalized according to the proposal submitted by Jitka Ressová, Hana Maršíková, Jan Pavézka in collaboration with Martin Velecký. The expert committee selected from 24 proposals.
The competition for the reconstruction of the underpass to Náměstí Práce was won by the proposal of Pavel Chládek from Zlín, who collaborated with Jaroslav Hošek. In this case, 23 proposals were submitted.
The fewest proposals, a total of 13, were submitted for the modernization of Komenský Park. The expert committee selected the proposal of Václav Babka, Pavel Mudřík, Lucie Radilová, and Zdeněk Sendler. Co-authors included Eva Šopíková, Marian Lanc, and Michaela Čechová.
The vernissage will take place at the Alternative on August 11 at 5:00 PM. The city hall's leadership invited all authors who submitted proposals to the event.
