Prague – The budget for the Czech participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka is set to be 290.2 million crowns for the years 2023 to 2026. An additional 170 to 220 million will come from external sources. The Czech News Agency was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The government confirmed its participation in the exhibition and the concept with which the Czech Republic will present itself on Wednesday.
The total budget for the Czech participation in the previous World Expo 2020 in Dubai was 350 million crowns. The contribution from the state budget was 185.2 million crowns. The Czech participation was financed on a PPP basis, meaning through collaboration between the private and public sectors.
"This time we will focus on Czech talent and creativity, achievements in science, research, and innovation, and sustainable solutions will also be present. We want to present the Czech Republic as an attractive tourist destination, among other things," said Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (Pirates).
The processor of the conceptual proposal is manager Ondřej Soška. He won the tender announced at the end of March by the ministry. "The Czech Republic will also be represented with an original national pavilion, the construction of which will utilize cross-laminated timber technology, combining both the possibilities of creative architectural design and elements of sustainability," the ministry stated. Special emphasis will be placed on the modern approach to presentation form, utilizing current possibilities and trends in exhibition design.
The exhibition will take place from April to October 2025, with its main theme being "Creating a future society for our lives." Soška based his concept, according to previous statements to the Czech News Agency, on the values and themes that the Japanese have long admired about the Czechs – namely architecture, culture, and art.
