Jitka Ressová: My Baťa House

We invite you to the exhibition "My Baťa House." The exhibition presents contemporary modifications of Baťa housing, and its goal is to confront the former intentions of the creators with the new demands and ideas that current residents place on living spaces.

The exhibition features selected successful and interesting reconstructions of various types of Baťa houses. Limitations, whether spatial or regulatory, need not be a constraint in the individual and creative use of residential space. The exhibition presents nineteen reconstructions on clear diagrams and floor plans, complemented by photographs by Libor Stavjaník illustrating the interior atmosphere of living and life in the house.

The exhibition is intended for residents of the houses, both expert and lay public, city representatives, and heritage care representatives. It aims to contribute to reflections on how to work with the protected area and to provoke discussion about the current state of these buildings.

The exhibition will have two parts: an outdoor part and the main exhibition in a Baťa house. The main part of the exhibition will take place in the interior of a Baťa quarter house in Letná (Vysoká 1029), and the outdoor part is located under the Big Cinema in Náměstí práce in Zlín.

The vernissage will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 5 PM at the outdoor part of the exhibition, followed by continuation in the main exhibition in the quarter house in Letná
Accompanying program: workshop "..how to build a wall" on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 12 PM at the outdoor part of the exhibition in front of the Big Cinema
