The exhibition literally at the scene of the crime. The University of Applied Arts in Prague will exceptionally fill both of its buildings with works from its students - semester, final, and diploma and bachelor works. The event will take place not only in the studios at nám. Jana Palacha but also throughout the building of the new Technological Center UMPRUM on Mikulandská Street.
The end of the academic year at UMPRUM is inseparably closed by two key exhibitions, Artsemestr and Diplomas and Bachelors. They are regular evidence of how UMPRUM students develop and progress. Here, they regularly defend their talent and newly acquired skills, presenting what their studies have provided them and how it has pushed them further.
The showcase of final and semester works, Artsemestr, will traditionally be presented on the home ground of the studios in the main building. A novelty is the placement of the exhibit Diplomas and Bachelors in the Technological Center UMPRUM.
“The new Technological Center UMPRUM primarily provides workshop facilities. However, the architects also counted on cultural and social overlap. After smaller presentations placed on the ground floor, we had a unique opportunity to use shared spaces as one large gallery. Visitors will thus have the opportunity not only to see the works of our graduates but also to peek through the glass partitions into the places where their works were created,” says the rector of UMPRUM, Jindřich Vybíral, about the new concept of the exhibit Diplomas and Bachelors.
Both events will again offer an inexhaustible amount of works from the fields of architecture, design, fine and applied arts, or graphic design. The projects largely reflect current events, social and ecological situations, and their needs. The assignments themselves also respond to an understanding of the principles of creation in practice, thereby helping to improve professional opportunities.
Throughout June, visitors will have the opportunity to not only get acquainted with the latest works of UMPRUM listeners but also absorb the creative atmosphere of both school buildings.

ABOUT ARTSEMESTR
Artsemestr is a regular showcase of semester and final works by UMPRUM students, where everyone presents the results of their study efforts at the end of each semester. Its tradition, as we know it now, began in 2004 thanks to a decision by then-rector Prof. Jiří Pelcl. Students exhibit their works in the authentic environment of the school – in studios, classrooms, sometimes even in hallways. In the winter of 2021, due to safety concerns over the spread of COVID-19, it had to take place online only. In the summer of 2021, for the first time in its history, the entire exhibition moved outside the UMPRUM building, to the spaces of the Prague Market in Prague 7 – Holešovice. It is now returning again to its original place, to the UMPRUM studios at nám. Jana Palacha.
