Jičín - The city of Jičín plans to announce an architectural and landscaping competition for the design of the Cidlina recreational area in March. The winner should develop all levels of project documentation for the city. The city estimates the costs of the competition and the preparation of project documentation at nearly four million crowns. The winner of the architectural competition could be announced in the middle of this year. The documentation could be completed by the end of 2021. Construction could then commence, city officials told reporters today.
The costs for the actual construction of the recreational area, covering around 7.5 hectares, are estimated by the city at 40 million crowns. It is to be created in an unused area between the Jičín housing estate Nové Město and the Cidlina River. "The area is ready; the city has already acquired the necessary land in the zone, and we have negotiated with ČEZ to relocate the high voltage lines," said Deputy Mayor Petr Hamáček (Association for Jičín).
The transformation of the area should be gradual and take several years. "In the Cidlina area, for example, a walking trail and park, space for sports activities, relaxation spots, barbecue corners, play areas for children, and paths for rollerblading should be created," said city spokesman Jan Jireš.
In the future, the city plans to connect two streets on opposite sides of the zone. The construction of roads for vehicular traffic is not currently included in the planned forty-million-crown budget.
In previous years, the city organized architectural competitions for the design of the Máj kindergarten and for the transformation of former barracks into a new residential district. The preparation of the barracks area for new construction is among the current priorities of the city. The city estimates the costs for infrastructure development in the area at 200 million crowns.
